Plenty of Colorado Outdoor Fun at Wilder Shared Ranch
There is no shortage of Rocky Mountain exploring within Wilder on the Taylor’s 2,100 acres. The shared ranch, nestled in the beautiful Taylor Canyon, also is surrounded by thousands of acres of Gunnison National Forest playground.
Five on-site hiking trails, ranging from easy to advanced, are easily followed and prime fishing holes on the Taylor River quickly located with a pocket-size Wilder trail map. The property begins along river banks and low-lying irrigated meadows at 8,327 feet and transitions into picturesque mountain hillsides that reach 9,671 at the highest point on the ranch. Excursions on horseback bring squeals of delight from youngsters and offer family fun on the Wilders’ herd of five horses.
Wilder shared ranch offers nearly five miles of private water for fishing, with two miles of professionally enhanced tailwater fishing on the Taylor River and several miles of sight fishing on Rarick Creek. Seven stocked ponds are perfect for beginners and for practicing fly-fishing skills.
Hundreds of miles of trails for hiking, biking, running and horseback riding in the Taylor Canyon and Gunnison-Crested Butte Valley offer endless opportunities with stunning wildflower and fall foliage displays.
