The Crested Butte Colorado Ski Season is coming to an end we know we’re going to miss those days spent cutting up the slopes in the nearby towns of Crested Butte and Gunnison. We’ll miss the doglsledding, ice skating, snowmobiling and ice fishing. We’ll miss waking up and stepping out our doors to see a sea of white. Of course, there’s too much to look forward to in the spring and summer months to keep us from missing winter for too long.

And here at Wilder in Crested Butte it sure looks like the wilderness is about ready to let the revelries begin. The valleys are shedding their winter coats to reveal acres upon acres of lush grasslands that will soon be dotted with the brilliant hues of the indigenous wildflowers. Now residents and guests are finally able to enjoy the wold-class Gold medal standard fly fishing provided by our nearly five miles of water. Now they’re able to indulge in biking, hiking, mountain climbing, horse riding and camping trips in the surrounding National Forrest. Now they can get a genuine cowboy experience, lending a hand on the century-old working ranch that still runs at the heart of our property. Now they can experience dozens of exciting events occurring in the neighboring towns over the next several months namely the Cattlemen’s Days Rodeo, the Crested Butte Arts Festival , the Crested Butte Music Festival, the Gunnison River Festival, and Fat Tire Bike Week. These events give you plenty of opportunities to explore the historic, quaint mountain towns just a short drive away.That is, if you can pull yourself away from all the stimulating activities and the awe-inspiring beauty that may make you never want to leave the Wilder side. Suddenly we’re forgetting why we missed winter so much.
